EMS Plus offers optional shipment insurance to provide additional financial protection for international express shipping, courier services, and air freight shipments.

Shipping insurance is designed to cover eligible loss or physical damage to shipments during transit, subject to the terms outlined below.

Insurance must be requested at the time of booking and cannot be added after the shipment has been dispatched.

2. Eligibility for Insurance

Insurance coverage is available for:

  • International express shipments
  • Domestic courier services
  • Air freight and cargo shipments
  • Business and corporate shipments

Coverage is subject to compliance with packaging standards and declared value accuracy.

3. Declared Value Requirement

To qualify for insurance coverage:

  • The customer must declare the accurate commercial value of the shipment
  • Supporting documentation such as invoices or receipts may be required
  • Under-declared shipments may result in limited compensation

EMS Plus reserves the right to verify declared values during claim investigations.

4. Coverage Scope

Shipping insurance may cover:

  • Loss of shipment during transit
  • Physical damage to contents during transport
  • Partial loss of shipment contents

Compensation is limited to the declared value of goods or the maximum insured amount selected.

5. Exclusions

Insurance coverage does not apply to:

  • Prohibited or restricted items
  • Improperly packaged shipments
  • Pre-existing damage
  • Delays caused by customs authorities
  • Confiscation by government or regulatory agencies
  • Force majeure events including natural disasters or strikes
  • Indirect or consequential losses such as lost profits

6. Packaging Requirements

To maintain insurance eligibility:

  • Shipments must be securely packaged
  • Fragile items must be properly cushioned
  • Boxes must be sealed and labeled correctly
  • Manufacturer packaging alone may not be sufficient

Improper packaging may result in claim denial.

7. Claims Procedure for Insured Shipments

In the event of loss or damage:

  • Notify EMS Plus within 7 days for damage claims
  • Notify EMS Plus within 14 days for loss claims
  • Provide supporting documentation including proof of value
  • Submit photographs of damaged goods and packaging

8. Investigation & Compensation

Upon receiving a complete claim:

  • EMS Plus will conduct a shipment investigation
  • Carrier records and tracking data will be reviewed

Approved claims will be compensated up to the insured declared value, subject to policy conditions.

9. Limitation of Liability Without Insurance

If shipment insurance is not purchased:

  • Compensation may be limited to standard carrier liability limits
  • Liability may be significantly lower than the commercial value of goods

Customers are encouraged to consider insurance for high-value shipments.

10. Premium Calculation

Insurance premiums are calculated based on:

  • Declared shipment value
  • Shipment type
  • Destination country
  • Risk classification

Premium details are provided at the time of booking.

11. Policy Updates
